ICEL continues its commitment to sports and local associations.
Once again this year, we have decided to participate in and contribute to the organization of the 'Gian Franco Deggiovanni' Trophy, the traditional spring event for track and field athletics at the 'Ermes Muccinelli' municipal stadium in Lugo.
The tournament, now in its 39th edition, is dedicated to middle school students and is organized every year by Asd Atletica Lugo Icel, with the patronage of the Municipality of Lugo, the Union of Municipalities of Bassa Romagna, the Provincial CONI, and the Provincial School Office.
As tradition dictates, the Deggiovanni Trophy is spread over three days, each dedicated to a year of the middle school curriculum.
On Thursday, April 12th, students from the third classes (born in 2003) will compete, on Monday, April 16th, it will be the turn of the second classes (born in 2004), while on Thursday, April 19th, the first classes (born in 2005) of middle schools will take part. Alongside the Deggiovanni Trophy, the 'Alfredo Melandri' memorial will also take place, dedicated to the pilot who passed away in 1998 following a tragic accident at the Mugello circuit.
On this occasion, 18 scholarships will be awarded (3 for males and 3 for females for each year of the curriculum) to middle school students who have excelled academically and in the 'Deggiovanni' Trophy events.
Finally, there will be the Quality Grand Prix, which will reward the performance of schools, taking into account the points scored overall in relation to the number of participants.
Individual awards for the top six finishers in each race will be presented on the athletics field, while the awards for schools, scholarships, and new records will be presented after the event.

We believe that sports can be a means not only to achieve prizes and medals but also an important experience through which to transmit healthy values, thanks also to the rich sports association network in our area.
