A morning among students from the Professional Technical Polo of Lugo for ICEL Scpa. The Lugo-based cooperative that produces copper and aluminum cables participated in a meeting with the students on Tuesday, November 19, to discuss the school-work alternation project.
Starting from January, some students from the Lugo institute will have the opportunity to gain experience at ICEL, engaging with a local production reality and learning techniques "on the field.
"We strongly pursued this relationship with the Professional Technical Polo of Lugo because we believe that it is necessary for a company to invest in young people, who represent our future," commented Andrea Babini, president of ICEL Scpa. "For our work, we need trained personnel, and the school is a fundamental partner in the training of young people in the area."
During the meeting, the Plant Director Andrea Crepaldi, the Research & Development Director Mirco Lacchini, and the Production Director Massimo Zacchi presented the history and activities of ICEL to four classes from the Industrial Technical Institute and two accounting classes.
They discussed ICEL's operations spread across different facilities in Lugo, Zingonia (BG), Alfianello (BS), and Salerno. In the coming months, students from the fourth and fifth classes will have direct contact with a local company, with the opportunity to continue their experience at ICEL after completing their high school.
The cooperative is currently seeking individuals for various positions, including one for the R&D/Laboratory sector, one to collect data for production process control, one to oversee the new information system, and a maintenance technician to monitor the real-time status of production facilities and physical assets, and to efficiently manage maintenance services through an integrated digital connection.
As a member/employee, I find ICEL's initiative truly important and crucial for our future, for the future of our young people in the area. In the role I hold within the company, I consider the journey we have undertaken so far and the goals we have set to be a beautiful professional and human experience. I have found the students attentive and interesting, fortunate to have teachers who think about their future.
We will strive to provide them with the best possible training.
The technicians of the future will need to be integrated into increasingly 'intelligent' and interconnected companies, so it's important to welcome young people who are already accustomed to and trained in new technologies in order to speed up the transition towards the digitalization of production processes.
Collaboration with the Technical Polo provides us with the opportunity to find these skills, and at the same time, ICEL offers students the chance to engage with a complex and efficient production environment.
